Shravanabelagola, Halibedu , Belur

1)Channarayapatna

It's between bangalore & Shravanabelagola(12km far) ....Stayed there on 31st dec 08 night to have comfortable schedule for next day

2)Shravanabelagola

It is one of the most important Jain pilgrim centers. In Kannada language, "Bel" means white and "kola", the pond, an allusion to the beautiful pond in the middle of the town
There are two hills Chandragiri (Chikkabetta) and Vindyagiri.


a)Vindhyagiri

The Vindhyagiri hill is home to a thousand-year-old 17.38 meter monolithic stone statue of the Bhagavan Gomateshwara Bahubali, considered to be the world's largest monolithic stone statue.

b)Gomateshwara

The saint is shown completely nude, in the Jain custom. It is 17 m. (55 ft) high and is visible from a distance of 30km.
This statue is regarded as one of the largest monolithic statues in the world

c)Chandragiri

A number of Jain basadis(shrines) are found on the Hill.Apart from these a number of other monuments such as Bhadrabahu Cave, Marasimha's Manastambha
